Chapter Eleven
Scorch
Itâs been two weeks since that first night with her. Emery got under my skin, scratch that. Sheâs always been under my skin and Iâve done my best to ignore the feeling. Too bad the moment I saw her in that towel, I couldnât help myself.
I had to reclaim what rightfully belonged to me.
Fucked up I know but damn if Iâll be sorry for taking back what has been mine for more than ten years. I didnât intend to continue fuckinâ her all night but after Emery admitted to not being with anyone else, my chest tightened with a pain I hadnât felt in years. Not since the day I thought Iâd buried her.
When weâd left the motel room, I followed her home. I refused to let her out of my sight. What man in his right mind would?
Getting to the clubhouse I was nervous because inside I didnât know what to expect upon seeing my son for the first time. Sure, Iâd have liked to have done this at the house instead but with Emeryâs stunt that didnât happen.
Stepping into the clubhouse Iâd barely made it through the door when I stop and stare at a mini version of myself.
The moment heâd seen me Stone ran across the room screaming âDadâ and jumped into my arms. Iâd lifted him into mine and held him to me. Meeting Emeryâs gaze, Iâd seen the tears rolling down her cheeks and couldnât help myself but pull her to me as well.
I didnât care if all my brothers were watching quietly. They all knew who she was to me. Iâd made no secret of that. All that mattered was for once in my life everything was whole. I had my brothers, my wife, and my kid.
In the heat of the moment Iâd made the announcement that Emery was my olâ lady. I hadnât planned on it, but it felt right. Still does.
Everyday Emery and Stone came with me to the clubhouse to hang out while I handled business. Itâs not always about riding my bike, drinkinâ beer, and fuckinâ bitches. No, I have to make sure all our businesses are running smoothly, because if theyâre not that means somethingâs wrong.
Today is no different.
âScorch, you able to talk for a minute?â Bane asks, glancing from me to where Emery is sitting on the couch engrossed in her book. Itâs what sheâs done every day when sheâs not doing something with Stone.
Feeling eyes on her, Emery glances up. âNeed me to step out of the room?â she asks, closing her book.
âSorry Em, need to talk to Prez about some shit,â Bane says, giving her a smile. Itâs strange seeing him interact with her yet he gives Demi the cold shoulder. Doesnât help they got off on the wrong foot when my sister in-law drew her Ruger SR45 on him.
âNo problem, I need to go see what Stone is up to anyway. I learned a long time ago to never leave him alone with my sister for long.
